Oppo BDP-831 Blu-ray Disc speler

De veelgeprezen Blu-ray Disc speler van Oppo is binnenkort ook in Europa verkrijgbaar onder het typenummer BDP-831.

Al enige tijd is in Amerika de Oppo Blu-ray DIsc speler BDP-83 verkrijgbaar. Een speler die alle formaten schijven afspeelt, dus Blu-ray Disc, DVD-video, SACD, DVD-audio en (HD)CD. En een speler die in de diverse tests uitzonderlijke kwaliteiten wordt toegedicht.

Oppo BDP-83 of BDP-831?

De voor Europa aangekondigde Oppo Blu-ray DIsc speler heeft het typenummer BDP-831. De specificaties van de speler zijn gelijk aan die van het Amerikaanse model, de BDP-83. Waarschijnlijk is de kleine wijziging in het typenummer gedaan om grijsimport tegen te gaan.

Oppo begint met de verkoop van het Europese model in Engeland. De speler gaat daar 449 Engelse pond kosten (omgerekend ongeveer 513 euro). Een officiële Euro prijsstelling is nog niet bekend gemaakt.

Een 'goedkope' alleseter

De Oppo Blu-ray Disc speler is dus een 'alleseter', die elk type schijf kan afspelen. Naast Blu-ray DIsc en DVD-video speelt de Oppo ook CD (en HDCD) af. Bijzonderheid is dat de speler ook SACD en DVD-Audio kan afspelen. Dit zijn beide hoge kwaliteit audio discs, die helaas steeds minder voorkomen. Maar voor mensen die SACD of DVD-Audio in de collectie hebben, is de Oppo speler dus erg interessant.

Nu is het feit dat de Oppo speler alle formaten discs kan afspelen niet direct bijzonder. Marantz en Denon hebben ook al dergelijke spelers op de markt gebracht. Bijzonder is wel dat de Oppo speler ongeveer 10x goedkoper is dan de spelers van Marantz en Denon.

Uitstekende prijs/prestatie verhouding

Volgens verschillende Amerikaanse testen biedt Oppo met de BDP-83 Blu-ray Disc speler hoge kwaliteit voor een relatief lage prijs. De speler wordt vooral geroemd om zijn hoge beeldkwaliteit bij weergave van Blu-ray Disc en DVD's. De Oppo maakt voor weergave van DVD's gebruik van de VRS™ by Anchor Bay (DVDO) techniek. Dezelfde techniek die ook in hun veelgeprezen DV-983H DVD speler zit.

Ingebouwde HD audiodecoders

Uiteraard heeft de speler ingebouwde Dolby TrueHD en DTS HD Master Audio decoders om het High Definition geluid van de Blu-ray Disc via de 7.1 analoge uitgangen uit te sturen. Het is mogelijk om bass management in te schakelen op SACD en DVD-Audio geluid. De Oppo BDP-831 is een Blu-ray Disc Profile 2.0 speler en heeft dus een ethernet aansluiting en 1 GB intern geheugen voor BD Live toepassingen.

· Full HD 1080p Output - The BDP-831 features user selectable video output resolutions, including 480i, 480p, 720p, 1080i, and up to 1080p 50 or 60Hz.

· True 24p™ Video - Many Blu-ray Discs are recorded at 24 frames per second, the same frame rate as the original movie's theatrical release. The BDP-831 can faithfully redeliver the original frames using 1080p 24Hz output (compatible display required) for smoother motion and a flicker-free, film-like home theatre experience. It can also restore the original 24 frames per second progressive-scan video from well-authored DVDs and output as 1080p 24Hz.

· Source Direct Mode - For users who wish to use an external video processor, high-end audio/video receiver or display, the BDP-831 offers a "Source Direct" mode. The original audio/video content on the discs is sent out with no additional processing or alteration.

· Multiple Zoom Modes - The BDP-831 supports multiple levels of aspect ratio control and image zooming, including a vertical stretch mode for customers with a 2.35:1 CIH (Constant Image Height) display system.

· HDMI - HDMI is an all digital interface for the cleanest possible connection. It delivers high-quality digital video and audio through a single cable. The BDP-831 features an HDMI v1.3 output with 30-bit and 36-bit Deep Color support.

High Fidelity Audio:

· Dolby® TrueHD - Dolby TrueHD delivers lossless studio master quality audio designed specifically for high definition entertainment. The BDP-831 supports bit-stream output of Dolby TrueHD via its HDMI 1.3 output. It can also internally decode Dolby TrueHD into LPCM and output via HDMI or the 7.1ch analog audio output terminals.
